This kitchen was designed for a low lying, one story ranch style home on a heavily treed piece of property. The trees and other growth around the perimeter of the property provide a great deal of privacy for this intimate house. The client's wanted dark wood stained cabinetry and selected a granite for the counter tops that has green and coral in its basic make up. This combination gives the new kitchen a very relaxed, calming feeling to those who enter to either prepare a meal or visit the cook while watching a meal being prepared. A pot rack hangs gracefully over the cook top and B.B.Q. and the copper pots that hang from it lend a charming glow to the over all feeling of the space. The walls and moldings around the doors, windows and at the floor are green to accent the coral walls and both colors are the same as found in the granite counter tops. Mexican, hexagonal shaped saltillo pavers are used throughout the kitchen and in a new room that was added at the same time that the kitchen was remodeled. This new room, the couple's private den, has a bar, entertainment center and wine closet, all in the same cabinet style as the kitchen. The counter tops are done in the same granite and have a full height back splash. A beautiful pool area can be accessed from either the kitchen side door or large French doors in the den. |
